It's raining, it's pouring, but Culpeper is far from boring! There are plenty of ways to spend the day, even if the weather doesn't cooperate.

Better Than Granny's Attic
MinuteMen MiniMallTake a trip back in time, or revisit your childhood! Culpeper's many antique stores and thrift shops are like a visit to grandma's attic. Lose yourself for hours searching for a special treasure of your own. Whether you seek stamps, coins, baseball cards, dolls, teddy bears, or vintage clothing, you're sure to find it here. As you're browsing around for that fine antique sofa or that perfect little curio cabinet that needs a little love and attention, you're likely to hear yourself more than once say "Wow! This is just like the one that I had when I was a kid!" Check out our list of antique stores, and then decide if you want a whirlwind tour of as many as you can visit in a day looking for that special "something" or lose yourself in just one, giving yourself time to savor all of the treasures found there.

What do you get when you cross dinosaurs, Daniel Boone, and Baseball's Hall of Fame?
Culpeper, of course! Spend a day soaking up the local history and culture, and make plans for the next sunny day. Start your day at the Museum of Culpeper History, where you can immerse yourself in Culpeper's colorful past. It's a sure bet that you'll see something that you want to Culpeper Visitor Center - The Depotlearn more about, such as our giant prehistoric visitors and our gold rush. You might imagine life as a Monacan Indian, a 19th century farmer or merchant, or a Culpeper citizen during the Civil War. George Washington, Robert E. Lee, Ulysses Grant, Daniel Boone, Walt Whitman, Eppa Rixey all journeyed through Culpeper. With your curiosity piqued, head to the Culpeper County Library, where you'll find an entire room filled with local history. What better way to spend a rainy afternoon than curled up with a good book! When you've learned all you can, head downtown to the Visitor's Center to pick up a map and other information so that you can visit some of the places you've read about as soon as the sun comes out again.

Let a Smile Be Your Umbrella!
Tea, Lace & RosesYou'll find lots of smiles and friendly faces in Culpeper that will chase the rain away! Grab your umbrella and head Downtown. With nearby parking and so many quaint and cozy shops, you won't be braving the elements for long! Treat yourself to a tea party at Tea, Lace, and Roses or have a latte at the coffee shop. Go see a movie, and then enjoy a meal at a great restaurant.

Sunshine or rain, Culpeper is the place to be!
