Spring through fall guests may visit with the animals, learn about the “mini” world, and have a picnic on the grounds. Highpoint is a friendly, family oriented facility. We offer quality instruction on our horse or yours, in both the hunter and jumper disciplines, and coaching from the local through the A levels of competition. We start young horses and give them a good foundation, and “de-programming” ex-racehorses is our specialty. Our school horses come in all shapes, sizes, and experience levels, and some are available for lease. Our facility has a big indoor arena, outdoor arena, indoor and outdoor lunging pens, and over 400 acres to ride on.

Exploring Shenandoah National Park on horseback is one of the best ways to go. Skyland Stables, located along the Skyline Drive (mile marker 42), will take you on a guided one or two and a half hour trail ride from April through early November (weather permitting) through the beautiful wilderness of this Park. You must be at least 4'10" to ride horses, but pony rides are available for the smaller children. You can make reservations at the Skyland registration building, or call the stables one day in advance.
