For more than 25 years, Bluemont has been bringing outstanding quality performances to
communities in central and northwestern Virginia - artists you'd expect to find in big
cities around the world. Yet here they are - Friday evenings on the lawn of the Old County
Courthouse, July through August, in historic downtown Culpeper. Inclement weather moves
the concert to the Depot on South Commerce Street, an equally delightful venue, just 3
blocks from the Courthouse green. For a seasonal schedule or for more information,
visit the Bluemont website.

The NAVCC of the Library of Congress is a working facility whose overall mission is the preservation of the nations’s audio-visual heritage collections of moving images and recorded sounds. It is the first centralized facility in America especially planned and designed for the acquisition, cataloging, storage and preservation of these collections. Formerly the Federal Reserve Building, the newly renovated facility is specifically designed for audio-visual preservation and is expected to be the largest facility of its kind, a state-of-the-art center incorporating new capabilities that are unprecedented within the global audio-visual preservation community. With over 420,000 square feet of usable space, the Collections Building includes 135,000 square feet, and the Conservation Building (a 3-floor office building with preservation labs and a 200-seat theatre) has 175,000 square feet, with the nitrate vaults occupying 55,000 square feet of this space. The Center will host regular film screenings, symposia and other events including cooperative film and educational programs with the State Theatre, scheduled to open in 2009. Also planned are a host of other "special events" during the year that will be open to the public. |
